Proposed legislation tabled on March 26, 2025, by the government of Alberta, called the iGaming Alberta Act, will create a new Crown corporation, the Alberta iGaming Corporation, to oversee the new market and put the AGLC in charge of regulation. The goal is to bring more players into a legal system, add consumer protections like self-exclusion tools, and keep gambling revenue in the province.

“I would like to congratulate Minister Nally and the government of Alberta for successfully advancing this important piece of legislation”, stated Paul Burns, CEO of the Canadian Gaming Association. “The industry is excited for this next step to bring an open and competitive iGaming market to Alberta”.
